Media Hub

Video, solved MediaHub allows the ingest, curation and distribution of large amounts of content. It includes sophisticated image and video verification tools to allow large amounts of content to be rapidly appraised. Used as the main UGC ingest and syndication solution by the BBC since 2007, the tool routinely handles 60,000 submissions per day.

Transcoding and standardisation

Both images and videos are transcoded and standardised. Media items can be reformatted and syndicated to internal systems and external partners.  

Multi-language

The MediaHub is used by over 20 different language services within the BBC World Service including Chinese, Persian and Farsi.  

Verification of content

Image and video validity checks are run on all items of content, including checks for tampering with Photoshop, geography of the source, image age and the previous history of the contributor. Contributor ratings are stored so content can be prioritised or ignored as appropriate.  

Workflow integrated

Full set of user permissions allows workflows to be respected and the publication of content to be controlled.  

Connectors

The MediaHub interprets and standardises all multimedia content and has built-in connectors for distribution to over 20 destination websites (via their apis). In addition it provides XML in a variety of formats for rapid integration with internal content management systems.
