FAQ's
What are the different functions on the player?
In addition to the accustomed control options, the VMS player allows the user to view the video in full screen mode, and access additional menu options. This includes the option to share the video via email; access the video link and RSS feed, the option to rate the video and displays metadata if there is any. The options can be reached by clicking on the information icon on the video player.
You can embed your player into your site either by referencing the URL generated by the VMS for Windows Media, Real Media, mp3 or .mov files or embedding the URL generated by the VMS into a Flash player for Flash, f4v, mp4, m4v or 3gp encoded with H.264 files.
You can also use the code snippet to embed the VMS player in your site. Using the Flash player embed code you can use the different parameters to:
- show/hide the menu button
- show/hide the various options within the menu button
- specify the protocol to be used (rtmp or rtmpt
- play the video automatically
- mute the video by default
- fit the video within the player size
- show/hide the tooltip button
How do I organise my playlist?
- You can drag and drop assets into your playlist from your media folders. Within the playlist you can also organise the order of your assets by dragging and dropping them into the correct positions. If you want to delete an asset from the playlist, simply drag and drop it into the recycle bin below your playlist.
What information can I get from the statistics?
The statistics provide information on files, visitors, user agents, referrer and protocol/status. All assets will be displayed in file information, you can order these by date ranges or media type (i.e. Flash). You can also search assets by title using the search function. You can view the hits, bandwidth and storage for each file which is displayed both numerically and visually.
The visitor information section displays the geographic location of your users, breaking this down into countries, cities and IPs’. You can also view the user agent information, which is the client application used with a particular network protocol. Referrer data displays where your content is linked from. You can also view file protocol- rtmp or http and status, which displays if the content was served correctly (code 200 means successful and code 404 means the page was not found).
