Stream UK allows customers to deploy Microsoft Silverlight and IIS Smooth Streaming player within seconds

Upload files and be ready to deliver them immediately

LONDON— APRIL 19, 2010 — Stream UK, one of the UK’s largest independent Webcasting company, today announced it has released the beta version of VMS 2.S, which allows customers to upload video and immediately generate the code for an embeddable Microsoft Silverlight player.

A transcoding back-end to the system will automatically generate the files required for an Internet Information Services (IIS) Smooth Streaming version, which means high definition (HD)-quality to those that can view it.  An Aspera-integrated upload form allows large files to be uploaded up to 100 times faster than over ftp or http.

“This puts the creation of a Web-ready IIS Smooth Streaming, Silverlight player within the reach of the normal browser user,” said Duncan Burbidge, CEO, Stream UK. “The only downside is we cannot charge $5,000 a time anymore!”

“Microsoft is pleased that Stream UK has invested early in supporting Silverlight and the next-generation application development platform, and is today releasing the beta version of VMS 2.S,” said Brian Goldfarb, director of the developer platform group at Microsoft Corp. “Products like VMS 2.S help developers use their existing skills to create unique experiences that run across many and varied devices.”

The system was used to produce the Stephen Fry player for .net magazine, which can be viewed here:

About Stream UK:  Stream UK was founded in 2001 to deliver video over the internet.  The company gained Microsoft Gold Partner status in 2008 and has offices in London, Madrid and Rome.

Blackberry and Spain ES

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009

BlackBerry users will no longer have an excuse to not thoroughly knowing their device. Visualmente collaborated with Stream ES to make a virtual session for BlackBerry Live via its website. The sessions were conducted on 17 September and were very successful with over 300 unique visitors.

BlackBerry users could ask the experts questions about using a blackberry device through simple tools, without having to travel to a physical location and were able to attend all sessions or as many sessions as required. The sessions included a basic practice for each BlackBerry smartphone model, an enabled area of tutorials with FAQ and a download area of specific applications for BlackBerry smartphone. It was also possible to see the new BlackBerry App World Store ™ that will soon be available in Spain.

To attend the conference, users needed only to sit at their computer, with headphones, an internet connection and a BlackBerry ® smartphone to follow the explanations of the expert. The conferences were held in four rooms, each session was repeated up to three times for each Blackberry device at different times throughout the day, making it easier for people to attend the preferred time, participate in conferences or simply repeat the one that interested them.

In addition, for those unable to attend, an on-demand version is availble on their website.

Redbull Bedroom Jam and Stream UK

Monday, September 14th, 2009

Stream UK are the video and webcast providers behind the Red Bull Bedroom Jam series.

Redbull Bedroom Jam is a once in a lifetime opportunity for new bands seeking their “big break”. Bands upload videos of their gigs, have fans watch and rate them on the site, and then potentially get selected to play at a Red Bull Bedroom Jam session. The Redbull Bedroom Jam begins today and runs for 10 weeks.

Stream UK is proud to not only host the content on our VMS system in conjunction with Xtaster, but we also film the live gigs and manage all of the live streaming.
