Stream UK and the Iranian Elections

Monday, June 14th, 2010

Stream UK’s award winning Stream Crowdsourcer as used by Reuters, IET, Hay Festival and BBC is designed to handle huge amounts of video and image content and to make it as easy as possible to evaluate and distribute the best assets.

The tool can accept a variety of formats sent via email as attachments, mobile phone MMS/SMS messages or via ftp upload and can also transcode the various formats on the fly into one universal format for easy integration to a website.

Stream Crowdsourcer was recently a valuable tool for the BBC during the Iranian elections. Throughout the elections Iranians were able to upload videos and images and get them out of Iran to the BBC in the UK. Stream UK’s Duncan Burbidge was also recently invited to speak on BBC’s World Service programme Digital Planet about Stream Crowdsourcer and what the tool enables the public to do and the role it paid during the Iranian elections.
