Overview

The world renowned scotch whisky brand Glenfiddich called upon StreamUK to stream, encode and create a microsite for an innovative virtual whisky tasting event, hosted by the Glennfiddich brand ambassador Ian Miller in Madrid.

StreamUK teamed up with it’s Spanish sister company StreamES to live stream the event that also included coverage of the brands distillery in Aberdeen  Scotland, all part of a major marketing campaign  that stems from a blog called ‘The Trend Explorer’, a Glenfiddich sponsored site that covers business, technology and lifestyle for those who like to keep up with the latest modern trends.

Technical Challenges

A unique mix of expertise

The Glenfiddich event required a microsite and player design that reflects the brand and sophistication of this particular event. StreamUK’s development team were able to meet these refined requirements and add innovative features to encourage more interactivity.

Global reach

Filming from two locations over 1600 miles apart was part of a strategy to appeal to a cross-European demographic. StreamUK’s CDN partner Level3 was able to deliver the content globally, delivering high quality HD content.

Production excellence

Full HD content was essential to match the superior and prestige marketing ideology behind the Glenfiddich product

Promotion

The StreamUK online marketing tool SVP was used to generate publicity before the Glenfiddich event. Within hours the webcast attained publicity in: Marketing Week, PSFK as well as generating a huge response from whisky loving twitter users.

Rapid response

The StreamUK production team were required to travel to Aberdeen whilst the production team from StreamUK’s Spanish sister company StreamES captured content from Madrid. StreamUK then encoded the content and streamed both locations in high quality to thousands of online whisky tasters.

Targetted reports

Glenfiddich used the comprehensive and specific analytic reports to measure the success of the campaign over time. Despite covering two different European locations, the reports were able to publish accurate reports that proved fundamental to the overall strategy.
