Crowdsourcer for the World Service

BBC World ServiceThe BBC Word Service is rolling out 14 instances of the Stream UK Crowdsourcer to allow it to ingest content from sites around the world.

The tool has bee developed to include multi-lingual support for Arabic, Persian, Hindi, Russian, Chinese and all European languages.

Also being added is functionality that allows:

  • geo-tagging of content
  • search engine optimisation of the output
  • improved tools for evaluating subscribers
  • rss feeds to integrate with internal content management systems.

    The system will be rolled out to the global audience of 150 million listens through 2008.
