Stream UK, the UK’s largest independent streaming company has added a new social media feature to its popular webcasting platform Stream Connect. The new feature, a Twitter plug-in, allows for engagement between webcasters and their audiences with the hope of allowing participants to feel involved in the online experience.
Stream Connect is used for a variety of events including conferences, trade shows, training, executive announcements and much more and previous interactivity options have included questions submission, voting, and chat, but this has now been extended to provide a webcasting solution which is integrated with social networking platforms.
The recent multi-webcast event for London Business School were first to use the new feature when alumni and journalists were offered an additional layer of communication by allowing them to post comments via their Twitter account, with the interfaces showing a live feed of the relevant twitter page / tweets referencing the event hash tag. This functionality serves a dual benefit if driving webcast attendee engagement, and promoting the event itself within the web community.
